The Green Report
Team member Gil and wife
Penney have been steadily 'retrofitting' their Victorian semi
to meet the same standards as a modern Eco-house.
The reason for this is
simple - even if every new building is built to the highest environmental
standard - zero carbon dioxide emissions - this will not cut the
existing amount of carbon dioxide production, caused by the existing
building stock, as is required by the Kyoto Protocol to address
the realities of global warming. It is therefore necessary for
existing buildings to be upgraded, and Gil and Penney's house
has been a testing rig for experimentation.
During 'Architecture Week'
in 1999 we held an 'open house' during which some three-hundred
people visited over two days, with very positive feedback. The
house has also repeatedly featured on regional television and
in the local and national press - see the separate ecohome
website.
Because of the amount of
positive feedback, and people contacting us for advice, we now
offer the 'green report'. Gil will visit your house, discuss with
you your needs, and produce a report to outline how you might
achieve your aims. The report is not the end of the advise - Gil
will continue to offer general advice over the phone for no extra
fee, or else if you have a major refurbishment project, it may
be appropriate to offer a fuller range of architectural and consultant
services.
We can discuss your requirements
with you to see what services you could benefit from - we do not
normally make a charge for an initial meeting.
